Foundations for Numeracy: An Evidence Based Toolkit for Early Learning Practitioners


The workshops are based on “Foundations for Numeracy: An Evidence-based Toolkit for Early Learning Practitioners” resource kit designed by the Canadian Language and Literacy Research Network, in collaboration with the Canadian Child Care Federation.

 

In this 4 part workshop series will present a review of recent well-designed research studies on the learning and teaching of mathematics. Educators will learn effective approaches to numeracy instruction that can be used in early learning environments.

Session Two: Ages and Stages of Numeracy Development

Session Three: Creating a Math-Rich Environment and Activity Cards

Session Four: Supporting Early Numeracy: Resources for Child Care Practitioners

As you know the Online Numeracy training that you are about to embark on consists of 4 sessions.  The first session is a review of current research.  This session will involve a fair amount of reading and the material is primarily academic.  The following sessions will focus on more practical information and resources.
