These videos show Early Childhood Educators approaching math with young children in a meaningful way during a part of their day. Mathematical concepts can be interwoven with routines and transitions to provide opportunities throughout the day for involving children in the use of number concepts.

1. 1.Can you identify other times in a typical day where you have or can introduce math concepts?
2. 2.Experts in early mathematical development have said that a good oral language program is a good early math program. Why do you think oral language plays a part in promoting mathematical development and learning in pre-school and kindergarten children? Provide an example of a dialogue or question that you could use with children?

Review the ten activity cards provided. Each activity is designed to support a mathematical concept and can be done in a group learning centre setting with children aged approximately three to five. Select two activities and present them to the children in your classroom or child care program.
