Licensed Child Care Centres
MCRC has two licensed child care centres where we offer a full time program for children from 18 months to 12 years of age as well as a 5 full day JK/SK program. Both of our Licensed Child Care Centres are Quality First participants.
TODDLER PROGRAM (18 months to 2 ½ years)
The toddler staff provide experiences and a learning environment that is age appropriate for toddlers. The ratio in the room is one teacher to 5 toddlers. The room is designed with toddler size in mind. We provide many hands on experiences to assist children to explore their environment. There is a rest period daily where each child has their own cot, sheet and a blanket. We encourage a team approach to care where teachers work closely with parents to ensure a smooth transition from home to centre.
PRESCHOOL (2 ½ to 3.8 years)
The ratio in this room is one teacher to 8 children. The teaching experience is expanded to include activities to ensure that children are ready for school entry into Junior Kindergarten. The children have a daily rest period where they are encouraged to have a nap on a cot. When children start to outgrow the need for a nap, they are required according to the Day Nurseries Act to have a rest for ½ hour. These children are provided quiet activities such as reading, puzzle making etc. Through our Reggio approach teachers and the children work on projects to promote discovery and learning. You will be able to see your child’s learning, evident in the documentation around the classroom.
JK/SK (3.8 to 6 years of age)
The kindergarten years are a special time when children start to learn more about reading, writing and math skills. They also continue to develop relationships with peers. Our teachers encourage these skills through their careful observation of the children and encourage in depth exploration with your child and take every opportunity to expand on lessons to be learned with our Reggio focus. The ratio in our JK/SK program is one teacher to 10 children.
